Alberta Oil and Gas
Stakeholder Engagement, Capacity Building, Local Content & Community Development

Regional Focus: Canada

In 2010, O Trade began working with Productivity Alberta (an agency within the Albertan Government’s Industry Development Branch) to customize and implement the LCPP to meet the needs and demands of Alberta’s oil and gas industry.

The LCPP provided Alberta’s small and medium-sized metal fabricators from Central Alberta, with the necessary skills to access their local supply chains and become competitive suppliers of the Alberta oil industry, located in the North of the Province.

Benefits:

  • Increased employment opportunities for communities, located in Central Alberta, through the successful inclusion of local metal fabricators in Alberta’s oil and gas industry

  • Identified niche opportunities for small-Alberta based metal fabricators to become part of Alberta’s oil and gas supply chain

  • Provided participants with practical skills, know-how, and best practices in HSE, quality control, marketing, supply chain and small-business management, raising their performance level to meet the standards of Alberta’s oil and gas industry

“Small businesses learned how to self-identify core competences, how to access the oil and gas supply chain and understand the specific demands of Alberta’s Oil and Gas industry.”
